The Free Jazzdom Collective: the Art of Improvisation
The FJC is a London-based collective of free improvisers who plays Instant Compositions with or without conduction. The repertoire consists of musical pieces that are created, composed and performed, in the same moment, during the performing act. The FJC pays homage to innovators and free improvisers such as Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra’, Butch Morris, Archie Shepp, Pharoah Sanders, John Zorn, Fred Anderson. By removing all dependence on chord progressions FJC broadens the boundaries between structure and freedom, sound, silence and dynamics.
